To be successful at his job, Max Tabika has to depend on more than 80,000 co-workers. As a certified bee farmer, if his honeybees aren't happy, he's not able to market raw local honey through Max's Honey House.
What started out as a hobby for the construction worker has turned into a part-time job that gives him full-time joy. "Honey is very sexy -- it's beautiful and delicious. You just fall in love with it," said Tabika, 40.
Harvesting about 1,000 pounds of honey each year, his product depends on the plants that grow wildly near his hives. These chickens are able to run around in the sun filled fields and eat what ever it is they want. They always have grass and are fed a vegetarian feed.
